So I went A-Divin'

It's been a pretty hectic week. And it wasn't like I was particularly productive or anything.

But still, being at work and all that makes me remember the days I was on the island. It was only a few weeks back mind you, but it feels so long ago.

And I wanna go back.

Either ways, as promised, in this post I shall channel my inner blogger. So it's time to bring on the shots!

However before we proceed I must warn you that the sight of my pasty skinny body may cause you to feel mild to severe nausea, and is therefore not recommended for the weak of heart, pregnant or those with heart problems.

So I went to Perhentian Island. Decided to get my Open Water Cert. Something I've been waiting to do for the past few years.

So here I am on the island with my 2 friends, Van and Yuen. My dive instructor Lisa is in the background showing the world how she really felt having to train aquatic recalcitrants such as I.

So here's the bunch of us Scuba noobs getting geared up for our first day in the water. I have to say I felt like I was part of the X-Men for a minute. We had cool gear, special equipment, and dammit, I looked sexy.

So this is how I was underwater most of the time. Apparently I am VERY VERY SUPER ULTRA UNBELIEVABLY susceptible to motion sickness. And I really had to try real hard to not puke my guts out from the swaying of the waves.

In fact, things got so bad, my two frenemies, Van and Yuen, came up with a bit of a handsignal for my pukage. It looked a little something like this:

I think I've even got a pic of me doing the-oft-theorised-but-rarely-seen puking through a regulator. Yeah. I'll spare you those amounts of sexy yah?

Here's the bunch of us getting back. *insert theme song here*. It's like we just got back from saving the world.

And then we have to do some cleanup. Of course, consider this your gratuitous shot with women in it. A little variety never hurts.

And it's never all fun games. Studying is crucial. See how the two guys opposite me look like they know what they're doing? Now look at me. I'm all "OMG. I just puked, and now I have to read? And how the hell do you figure out the nitrogen levels after 20 minute dive at 17 m? ARGH"

But eventually we got done with. Learnt that we could control ourselves underwater without being a menace to the local denizens. And even... SWIM IN FORMATION. Look:

Insert that valkyrie song. And imagine we're swimming at you like a dangerous pack of barracudas.

And here we are all "whoo hoo" and "yeah mother f**ker". We just got certified! So we did what anybody would do: give each other high fives, flash a few gang signs and take a few pictures.

But of course, sometimes your friends decide to go off on their own. Van signaled that he saw a mermaid and decided to see if she wanted him to be her lobster sidekick.

And that was that. I don't have any of the goodbye pictures of me leaving the island because I don't ever want to think of the fact that I had to leave. (actually, I don't have any of those. the cameras were never mine and I stole these off somebody. And I haven't received the last day camwhore pose pics)

There. I've done it. Post with pictures all put up. I think I've met my quota for the year. More random word posts next! Yay! Less work for me!

ps: pics are all courtesy of scubatim. Thanks Tim!
